Bangla Translation Award, Lifetime Achievement

Translation Awards given by Bangla Translation Foundation:

Bangla Translation Foundation has introduced two awards for translators namely ‘Best Translated Book of the Year’ and ‘Translator Lifetime Award’ to encourage the translators of the country. One book in translation is awarded published each year. And a translator is awarded for his overall contribution in the field of literary translation. The prize money is 1 lakh and 50 thousand taka respectively. This award was given for the first time in 2021. Alam Khorshed, famous translator of the country, won lifetime achievement and the award on the category of Translated Book of the Year was awarded to Alexandre dumas’ Kalo Tulip in translation of Roshan Jamil.

Monetary value of the award:

• The winner of the Translator Lifetime Achievement gets an honorarium of 1,00,000.00 (one lakh) taka, and
• For the Best Translated Book of the Year, the translator gets 50,000.00 (fifty thousand) taka.

Publications:

Bangla Translation Foundation has introduced one literary magazine namely Juktaswar. This bilingual magazine publishes literary works in translation—from Bangla to English and from other languages to Bangla. It gets published after every three months.
