Dr. Rashid Askari

Dr. Rashid Askari (b. 1965) is a Professor of English, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and former Vice Chancellor, Islamic University, Kushtia Bangladesh. He is also a writer, fictionist, columnist and translator. He wrote 10 books and a large number of articles/essays on a variety of themes ranging from national to international which have been published at home and abroad. The areas of his academic interest include Modern and Postmodern Fiction, Colonial and Postcolonial Literatures, South-Asian Writing in English, Literary Theories, Creative Writing and Geopolitics. His two Bengali books: Indo-English Literature and Others and Postmodern Literary and Critical Theory and two English books:  The Wounded Land and Nineteen Seventy-One and Other Stories and one edited book English Writings of Tagore deserve special mention. His short fiction collection Nineteen Seventy-One and Other Stories has been translated into Hindi and French.
